St. Paul's Mission, Chibbaramau

Place Name: Chibbaramau
Established Year: 1984
Description: Started on 3rd July 1984 by Rev. Fr. Kuruvilla Kokkatt and the Sisters of Little servants of Divine Providence, this mission is popularly known as Sevashram Mission. It is situated in the heart of a village Lalakpur near Chibbaramau town and is mainly involved in non-formal education and social work. We also run a dispensary and a tailoring centre for the benefit of the villagers here. Initiallly together with village work the Sisters of Divine Providence used to run a home for the handicapped children, which was stopped when the Little Sisters left the Mission in 1989. The Sacred Heart Sisters of St. Mathew's Province, Changansserry province helps in the running of the Mission through their valuable service. Through our educational, social and medical activities we try to give a new dimension to the lives of poor villagers of this area. Since its Silver Jubilee celebrations in 2007 the Mission has also begun an English mediums school for the children of the nearby villages and town.
